Paul Atreides unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee. [Metacritic]

Visually it’s fantastic but it races through story beats so fast the characters aren’t allowed time to feel real.

One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbor Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before. [Metacritic]

It’s a film that only makes sense once you see the final scene, which can work like The Usual Suspects for example but here I wish the film maker had chosen to reveal this earlier because I think I would have appreciated it much more.

The true story of a WWII veteran who secretly leaves his care home to attend the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings is told in this poignant British drama, which contains upsetting scenes and moments of wartime threat. [bbfc]
